The durability of a concrete structure can be threatened by different external factors as weather (rain, frost, thaw, wind and temperature changes); chemical agents (antifreeze salts, grease and/or oil in industrial environments) and/or external forces. Our proposal offers guidance to lengthen the life of the structure through a strategy based on 4 steps: 1. the scientific analysis to understand the quality of the concrete and the structure; 2. protect the structure to delay degradation; 3. recover the integrity and appearance of the material; and 4. in worse scenarios, restore damaged structures. The analysis of the real state of the building in reinforced concrete is carried through non-destructive tests with specialized instruments, such as:
SCLEROMETER
Material resistance
Surface resistance
PROFOMETER
Measure concrete cover
Depth of carbonation
Distribution of reinforcement bars
Corrosion
